Kemsing Archive Project

The Photographic Archive consists of 2000+ negatives of photographs of the village and it’s inhabitants. These are copies of photographs that have been lent by villagers, past and present, to form an archive spanning a hundred years of village life.

To unlock the archive and make it more accessible it was decided to digitise it. This has been made possible with a grant from Awards for All.  During 2004 a team of volunteers completed the work of scanning the negatives and storing them on the computer.

Work is now being undertaken to index and cross-reference the archive to make it easy to search.

We are also digitising documents of interest to make them more readily accessible whilst preserving the originals.

Take a look at the gallery for a very small sample of the photographic archive.
